BVN win design competition for Coronations $1.5 billion Erskineville Village urban renewal project
Inspired by the strong local identity of Sydney’s Inner West, our proposal for Blocks G&H 155 Mitchell Road Erskineville has been announced winner of the City of Sydney design competition.
The entirely build to rent residential project for Coronation Property will round off the redevelopment of Ashmore Estate, a former industrial site and major urban renewal project. It’s a key part of the City of Sydney’s plan to boost housing diversity over the coming years.
The Erskineville Village project at 155 Mitchell Road is set to transform the 50,000sqm former industrial site into a vibrant community hub, delivering approximately 1,000 Build-to-Rent (BTR) residences, six boutique terraces and premium retail, dining, and public amenity offerings.
Our design focuses on the importance of neighbourhood making and creating spaces for social interaction in dense inner-city enclaves.
BTR projects like this should prioritise elevating the resident experience beyond the lobby and their front door. There’s a real opportunity to design for higher density in a way that fosters social connection and builds community.
