BVN at MDW2024: Retrofitting Our City
Responding to Melbourne Design Week’s call to ‘design the world you want’, BVN is presenting two events under the banner of Retrofitting Our Cities at the recently transformed Queen & Collins.
Adapting, re-using, repurposing and upcycling existing buildings can improve them as commercial assets while catalysing CBD pockets into thriving precincts.
Principal, Sally Campbell.
On Saturday 25 May, we’re running a Design Sprint for recent graduates and students of architecture, design and planning to accelerate the adaptive re-use of existing buildings while considering material circularity and the enrichment of urban spaces.
Registrations now open.
Then on Wednesday 29 May, we’re hosting a Panel Discussion with KTA, Breathe Architecture, The GPT Group and The University of Melbourne to delve into the opportunities and challenges of upgrading the unassuming buildings that make up the majority of our cities and what it takes to reimagine them into vibrant community hubs.
