Innovation House
Kawana Waters, QLD
Completed 2006
Innovation House is designed to present a strong, contemporary, sub tropical form and character to Innovation Parkway. The combination of a simple, refined colour palette and the useof a matt finish silver metallic wall cladding delivers a robust building form that is highly identifiable in the Kawana Business Village.
The main building form is raised off the ground line to create a demarcation between ground and the upper sections of the building. Shaded further, the north eastern corner of the building has been punctuated at the upper levels by small a recessed balcony element to allow the users to access full height glazing from the communal areas within their own fitouts.
Horizontal and vertical sun shading elements project out from the façade line and further articulate the building’s elevations to the north, east and the west. Horizontal strips of green glazing emphasise the form’s horizontality in the larger landscape and aim to break down the bulk of the overall building, while maximising the internal occupant’s expansive views to the recreational lake directly to the north east.
The building design incorporates many sustainable design principles and the building has been oriented to maximise the occupant’s access to natural light, adjacent lake views and distant ocean views.
